ACHARYA

During the Vedic era, there were Gurukuls in which the Acharya's used to teach their shishyas in a very intelligent and innovative way.


According to a story... One day a few students objected to the slow and inefficient physical work by one of the students named Vasi. The Acharya was known to the fact, but he wanted to give time to Vasi to developmental and physical capabilities. But as the issue was raising many times the Acharya took a different step.


Acharya asked Vasi to do his daily task after giving time to push the boulder which was lying near the foothills, a half-mile away from the gurukul. Vasi was one of the obedient shishya of the gurukul, so he started to do the task assigned by the Acharya the next day. 


Few days went by but the boulder didn't move an inch. But Vasi continued to carry out his task. After a month his mind started raising questions over the command of Acharya. Now apart from his physical task his mental friction also started and Vasi had to use a lot of energy to counter both of them. Two seasons were gone and Vasi was tired at both stages(mental and physical).


One day he visited the abode of Acharya in the gurukul. 


Vasi told Acharya, It's been a long time that I have been pushing the boulder but It hasn't moved an inch to date.


There was a big smile over Acharya's face.


He said to Vasi: Vasi...oh dear! Even a hundred like you will try at the same time, it wouldn't move a length of grass clod. He further added that, have you seen that your muscles have grown hard and you do the group task during studies without any misunderstanding with the team members over any matter.


Vasi at once got to his self-analysis and found that during this task he has improved a lot in overall performance in the gurukul.


Vasi bowed down to the feet of Acharya with gratitude!


This is what a True Teacher does to bring the best to their students. The most important thing that makes all happen is the "Gratitude" of Shishya towards his Acharya's Command.


Hope Bharat continues to bring such Acharya-Shishya relationships so that our nation teaches the whole world this Innovative Vedic Education System.
